Fruit Popsicles Summer Recipe

With the long, hot school vacation ahead of us, I have found myself considering summer recipe to keep kids cool and refreshed. The easy option for most parents is to get a pack of store-bought popsicles and some ice creams to keep in the freezer.

I don’t mind the kids having one as an occasional treat if we were on a day out to the beach or an amusement park. What I don’t want is them constantly eating all that sugar and those additives every time they play out in the garden.

My solution was to look into making my own fruit popsicles to give them something little healthier. These frozen treats with real fruits and yogurt or fruit juice are a big hit.

With these popsicles, I know that they are consuming less sugar and getting a fun source of vitamins in the afternoon. I know which I’d prefer between a fake strawberry flavored stick of ice or real strawberry puree and yogurt.

Luckily, the kids are impressed with the flavors and textures. They are even picking out fruit at the grocery store for me to make a new batch!

Raspberry Lemonade Yogurt Fruit Popsicles

The recipe is want to share with you today is for my Raspberry Lemonade Yoghurt Ice Pops. I realize that this doesn’t sound like the healthiest kids recipe out there, but it is a great first-time recipe.

I used it for weaning my children away from the sweet, sickly ice cream treats and onto healthier popsicles.


All you need is the following:

6 ounces fresh raspberries.
1 and a half cups of plain yogurt.
Half a cup of lemon juice (that’s about 2 lemons worth)
A quarter of a cup of granulated sugar.

The method is simple. Cut the raspberries in half and distribute them between your molds so that each popsicle contains plenty of wholesome fresh fruit.

Combine the sugar, lemon juice and yogurt in a bowl and then pour this over the fruit. Then all you need to do is add the sticks and place them in the freezer to set.

This recipe makes about 10 fruit popsicles so you can adapt the quantities depending on how big or small a batch you want.

Once you master one of these summer recipes, there is no limit to what you can make.

The simplicity of these treats means that not only can you experiment with different flavor combinations, but the kids can also get involved too.

As long as you have a strong set of popsicle molds, something with a good shape and strong stick to hold onto, you can fill them with pretty much anything.

Freezing times can vary so make sure they are fully set before handing them out.
If my recipe is still a little unhealthy for your liking, cut out the sugar and yogurt and just freeze the pureed fruit and juice. Just be careful that the mixture is not too tart for the little ones.
