Hi! Thank you for stopping by my little space here on the internet. My name is Theresa. I am the mom of two pre-teen girls and the wife of an awesome guy.
A few years ago we decided to take our girls out of public school because we were unhappy with the emphasis on testing, as well as some other things that were going on in our school system. The Catholic school in our town was closing and private school at 25k+ per pupil was out of our budget. We thought about moving, but at that time (2008-2009) the housing market in our area was a mess and it was very hard to sell a home. Homeschooling had been something we had never thought we would do, but it was the best decision we could have made!
Our homeschool style is a little bit of everything -- a little interest-led, a little classical, a little Charlotte Mason...a little bit of our own thing, all depending on what day of the week it is or what skills the girls are working on.
We don't fit the stereotype of a typical homeschool family and I am not your typical homeschool blogger. We are about inclusion not exclusion. We are more liberal than conservative. We are more Occupier than Tea Partier. We are more open than closed. We are glass is half full people.
I try to stay upbeat and positive--in my life as well as on my blog. I tend to prefer blogs that are just about real life rather than always trying to impart some inspiration or wisdom, so sometimes to keep things real, I may whine or complain or share my problems. I would rather have a real relationship with people than to have you think I am someone I am not. I'd rather you come here on a bad day to feel understood than have you come here on a good day and feel like I think I am better than you or you are not doing a good job--because here is the thing: we all have bad days and good days, all we can do is try our best and sometimes that is not easy. I would rather read about someone's bad day and know I am not alone than read about how smart someone is and how they have all the answers.

I blog about homeschooling, managing my time, parenting pre-teen girls, DIY projects...pretty much anything and everything. I like to keep it real.
If you want to know more about me: I am a librarian and I don't feel quite right if I don't do yoga often. My favorite thing in the world is to curl up in bed with a good book and a cup of tea. I like to make a home for my family, a place where they can come and recharge and refresh and find respite. I strive to live simply in a complicated world. I believe whole-heartedly in prayer. I don't like competition, especially material competition, life is short and we should enjoy every moment and do what is right for ourselves and our families.
