Before I became a mother I spent YEARS dreaming of having children and of the kind of mother I would be. I would bake cookies. I would make crafts with my kids. I would listen to them--really listen to them. I would make a big deal out of holidays.
But somewhere between dirty diapers and full-time school, I got so busy in the hustle and bustle of soccer practice and dance lessons and school projects and homework and Brownies and teaching Sunday school...that I didn't find time to be the mom that I had dreamed of being. I kept saying...when soccer is over, I will find time to bake cookies...when we complete this school project we will find time for crafts we want to do...when I am not so busy teaching Sunday school, I will have time to listen, really listen to my kids.
But you know what? It never happened.
Then one day it dawned on me: THIS IS MY ONLY CHANCE. My kids are growing up before my eyes and will be gone, in college, on their own, in the world, before I know it. THIS IS MY CHANCE to be the MOM I WANT TO BE.
I hope that over the next 31 Days I can encourage you to think about THE MOM YOU WANT TO BE. I hope I can inspire you to try things with your family, help you to simplify your life, find more balance, try some healthy recipes and just generally MAKE THE MOST OUT OF THIS TIME with YOUR CHILDREN.
Over the next 31 Days I will challenge you to:
- de-clutter
- catch up on your photo books and/or scrapbooks with an easy system
- get organized
- try some healthy recipes
- spend quality time with your kids
- prepare for the holidays (yes, really!)
- start some traditions, if you haven't already
- and many more things!
I hope you will join me! I look forward to getting to know you!

I can't wait to check out your series. I am all about slowing down, keeping things simple and focusing on what really matters.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Liane :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I love your series, too. I need to think more positively and I love that Oprah quote!
ReplyDeleteYay! I will follow along with you as well. I LOVE your blog title!
ReplyDeleteI know that feeling well. I've recently decided to just cut back and it's made such a difference. Now we each pick just the things we REALLY want to do...and don't feel too bad about saying no sometimes. It's made such a difference and allowed me to be the mom I dreamed of being before I had kids!
ReplyDeleteI need this! I feel like everything that we do it always rushed and I don't savor the moments enough. Looking forward to following!
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be great! I am blogging about children as well for the 31 days, and I can't wait to see our posts each day!
ReplyDeleteI will DEFINITELY be following this series! Love the topic :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome challenge! I will definitely be following along with you! xx
ReplyDeleteLove this topic! Looking forward to following along over the next 31 days! =)
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love this topic!!! I'm excited to follow along and hear more! I'm writing about "31 Days of Celebrating the Moments that Matter". It's all about slowing down and noticing the moments in our days that have eternal significance.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jenna. I am excited about your series on living simply...I am trying to simplify our lives!! I was unable to leave a series on your blog, though :(
ReplyDeleteWow...I'm really looking forward to this series. {Popping over from The Nester} I have JUST been contemplating some of those same questions. Am I the Mom that I really want to be? Can't wait to read over the next 31 Days.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to this.
ReplyDeleteWe've both chosen similar themes for our 31 Days.. which is how I stumbled across you! I'm so thankful for The Nester! What a wonderful way to meet new mom-friends!
